About page numbers
Page numbers make a long PDF easier to refer back to, cite in an email, or print correctly. Add them before you send a contract, report, study packet, or any document where the reader might need to jump to a specific page.
Pick a position (bottom centre is the safest default) and, if your document starts after a cover page, set the starting number to match the first page you want labelled "1".
The number is rendered as real text, not an image, so it stays crisp at any zoom and is searchable in modern PDF viewers.
