Practical guide
Extract selected PDF pages into a new document
Choose the pages you need and copy them into one separate PDF without changing the source file.
What Extract Pages does
Extract Pages builds a new PDF from the selected source page numbers and preserves their source order.
It is suited to making one focused document from non-adjacent pages. It does not produce one output per selection or change content inside a page.
How to use this tool
Select a source PDF
Upload one PDF and allow the page grid to finish loading.
Choose pages to copy
Select every required thumbnail; keyboard users can operate the named page-selection buttons.
Verify the selection
Compare the selected page numbers with the document outline or intended section list.
Extract and review
Create the output, download it, and confirm that no contextual or continuation page is missing.
Common use cases
Collect supporting pages
Copy a cover, approval page, and selected exhibits into one review document.
Share a focused excerpt
Create a smaller file containing only the complete pages relevant to a recipient.
Supported inputs
- One PDF document (.pdf, application/pdf)
- At least one selected source page
Output
One PDF named extracted-pages.pdf containing the selected pages in source order.
Limitations to know
- Extraction copies whole pages and cannot isolate a paragraph, image, or table region.
- Document-wide bookmarks, signatures, cross-references, and form behavior may not remain meaningful in an excerpt.
- The selected pages stay in source order; this tool does not provide a custom reorder step.
Privacy and document handling
- The full source document is uploaded before selected pages are copied by the worker.
- The excerpt receives a new stored file record and does not replace or delete the uploaded PDF.
- A short excerpt can still contain identifying headers or footers, so inspect every output page before sharing.
Stored input and output objects are deleted automatically: files uploaded without an account are removed about 24 hours after upload, and files belonging to a signed-in account are removed after 7 days. A scheduled sweep enforces this hourly against the object store itself. Workers attempt to remove per-job temporary directories after processing. This does not delete stored input or output objects.

Troubleshooting
No pages can be extracted yet
Wait for the PDF preview to load, then select one or more numbered page cards.
Printed and viewer page numbers differ
Use the number displayed below each PDFWhirl thumbnail when making the selection.
An expected continuation is absent
Return to the original, include the adjoining page, and create a new excerpt.

Frequently asked questions
Can I extract non-adjacent pages together?
Yes. Select each required thumbnail and the output will contain those pages in their original sequence.
Is extracting the same as splitting?
No. Extract Pages makes one document from chosen pages; Split PDF creates outputs from ranges or every individual page.
Does extraction reduce image quality?
The PDF worker copies selected pages rather than intentionally rasterizing them, but the completed document should still be reviewed.
How should I check my Extract Pages result?
Open every Extract Pages download and compare it with the unchanged source before sharing or deleting anything. Pay particular attention to this documented limitation: Extraction copies whole pages and cannot isolate a paragraph, image, or table region.
